The strong designs, beautiful colours and shapes inherent
in flowers attract me to them as a subject for my paintings.
Wherever flowers are, whether in their natural setting or
inside set on a cloth on a table, I find them an evocative
reminder to contemplate. The influence of our happy and independent
rural lifestyle is evident in my work, and I hope empathy
and praise show through in my subjects.

I count myself fortunate that for the last, nearly, four decades
the creation of art has been the central focus of my professional
life. During that time I journeyed from Art School student
to commercial artist to fine artist in various media. The
one thing that has remained a constant, however, is the ever-magical
allure of the creative process. The very fact that it is all
an illusion that germinates in the human imagination and culminates
on a two dimensional surface is what makes it, in many ways,
as real as life itself.
